My Ambassador Story

Moving to Florida alone has been one of the greatest, scariest, most memorable experiences of my life so far. Attending UCF has presented me with more opportunities that I could count, and undoubtedly, one of my greatest and proudest moments at UCF are due to my time as an ambassador for the College of Business.

If you are at all familiar with UCF, you know that it is one of the largest universities in the country. More than 60,000 students attend the university and as you guessed it, it can get very stressful to get by. The College of Business at UCF is no exception. It is huge. I mean HUGE. Classes are made up of 1000+ students, you will probably not find a seat on the first day of classes and your professors will most likely never meet you personally.

When I first transferred, I went with the flow. I figured that if I acted like I knew what I was doing and took everything in with an open mind I’d turn out okay. I was lucky to have amazing professors that truly cared about their students, and although I was 1 out of thousands I felt valued and cared for. This, mainly due in part because of an amazing marketing professor. She instilled in us how important it was for us to get involved and not be a “seat warmer” as she called it. I took her words to heart. I got involved and never looked back.

In the Spring of 2016 I found out about the ambassador program at the College of Business. It was an admired and respected program created by the dean of the college in hopes to get all students involved while creating a culture of entrepreneurship, collaboration and innovation. Later in the semester, I was humbled and overjoyed to find I would become an ambassador for the college.

My time as an ambassador has shaped me as a student, a friend, a professional and individual. I’ve had the honor to help at extraordinary events for the college and the community. I’ve had the privilege to be surrounded by other students who are passionate about serving and their education. I’ve met incredible business professionals that have become exceptionally successful while staying humble and true to themselves.

I have also gotten to help those whose shoe’s I was in a couple of years ago. Those big dreamers who are new to a scary, intimidating environment and have no idea where to go or what to do next. I get to point people in the right direction and fill them in on the “in’s and out’s” of the college. I get to have inspiring conversations with both professors and students about what the future holds.

This past February, I had the honor to attend the college’s Hall of Fame. This event is held every spring to honor alumni who have been in their fields for more than 20 years and exceptionally successful in their industry. Seeing the alumni being honored greatly inspired me to not only be exemplary successful but to never forget where it all started. In the cloudy halls of UCF’s College of Business⚡️🔛
